The XO Bestie app can send alerts to your phone. You turn them on when the app asks, and you change them later in your phone’s own settings.
When does the app ask to send notifications?
The app shows Turn on notifications? at these moments:
- after you place an order
- after you book an appointment
- after you post a listing
- after you list a new service
What do Turn on and Not now do?
- Turn on opens your phone’s own permission question. Allow it there.
- Not now closes the box and asks nothing of your phone. The app asks again at the next of those moments.
Once you have answered your phone’s own question, the app cannot ask again.
I said no, or I never saw the question. How do I turn notifications on?
Use your phone’s settings. The app has no button for this.
- Open your phone’s Settings.
- Find XO Bestie.
- Tap Notifications.
- Allow notifications.
The same place turns them off.
Can I choose which alerts I get?
Yes. See Choosing which notifications you get. Urgent alerts and account and security notices come through even when a switch is off.
What happens when I tap an alert?
It opens the screen the alert is about. If the app cannot tell which screen, it opens the Notifications screen.
Which alerts reach my phone?
Only notifications that are also on your Notifications screen are sent to your phone, with the same wording. Some never alert your phone. For example, a new follower shows in the bell only. Chat messages never send an alert. Check the paper plane instead.
Do I get alerts on the website?
No. Phone alerts are only for the iPhone, iPad and Android apps.
What happens when I sign out?
- Sign Out stops notifications on that phone.
- Sign out everywhere stops them on every phone. You find it under Global Settings > Log in and Security. See Devices and security alerts.
Why does the number on my app icon not clear?
It shows the same number as the bell. That count includes jobs in Need your attention, so it clears when you do the jobs. See Your notifications. Some Android phones do not show the number.
