Sign-in codes and two-factor authentication
On this page
XO Bestie emails you a 6-digit code the first time you sign in on a phone, tablet, or browser it has not seen before. After you enter it, that device does not ask again.
Why am I asked “Is this you?”
- Sign InEnter your email or user ID and password
- Is this you?A code goes to your account email
- Enter the codeTap Sign in
- You are inThis device is remembered
- AlertYou get an email and a bell notice
The check appears only after your password is right. A wrong password never sends a code.
- Look for the email with the code. It goes to the email address on your account.
- Type the 6 digits into the boxes.
- Tap Sign in.
If no code arrives, tap Send again. It is available after a short countdown. Tap Back to sign in to start over. For more help, see I didn’t get my code, or it says it isn’t valid.
How often will I be asked?
Once for each phone, tablet or browser. You are asked again after you sign out everywhere or reset your password, and every time in a private browser window.
Do I get an alert when a new device signs in?
Yes. When a new device is accepted, XO Bestie sends you an email and a bell notice. They say a new device signed in. You cannot turn these alerts off. If you do not know the device, see Devices and security alerts.
What is the Two-factor authentication section?
In the appMenuGlobal SettingsLog in and SecurityTwo-factor authenticationTwo-factor means a code on top of your password. This section has two cards.
Your email address shows with Always on. You cannot turn it off. It is why a new device asks for a code.
Phone
The Phone card shows your number, or No number yet. It has a switch.
- The switch works only after you add and confirm a phone number. See Adding or changing your phone number.
- Your first confirmed number turns the switch on for you.
- To turn it off, XO Bestie texts a code to your number. Enter it. The switch stays on until the code is accepted.
Today, sign-in codes still come by email only. The Phone switch does not change that.
Can I use an authenticator app or backup codes?
No. XO Bestie has no authenticator app and no backup codes.
The code went to an old email
The code goes to the email on your account. If you can still sign in on another device, change it in Log in and Security. See Changing your email address. If not, email support@xobestie.com.
