Taking payment at the POS till

The POS is your till. Use it to charge a customer in person by card. Tap POS in the middle of the bar at the bottom of the app. You can also tap the round POS button on your Booking Calendar.

The till works on the phone and tablet app only. It is not on the web. It takes card payments only.

What do I need before I can use the POS?

If your shop is not fully set up, tapping POS opens a checklist of what is missing. It can include Set how you get paid and Set up a card reader. Finish each step, then tap POS again. See Setting up a card reader or Tap to Pay.

How do I take a payment?

1. Tap POS.
2. On Customer, type a name, phone or email to look up the customer. If there is no match, add them with Name, Phone and Email. Tap Continue.
3. On Choose services, pick the services and tap the button at the bottom. If you pick none, the button says Skip to products.
4. On Staff, choose who served the customer.
5. On Add products, add any products they bought. Tap Skip if there are none.
6. On Add a tip, pick a tip or tap No Tip, Thanks!. Then tap the button that shows the amount.
7. On Charge, check the totals, then tap Charge.

If you chose no services, the Staff and Add a tip steps are skipped. The sale is a product sale at the counter.

What do the totals show?

Before you charge, the total shows the services, products, tip and tax.

What happens when I tap Charge?

The screen tells the customer what to do with their card. When the payment is approved, you see Paid by card. If the card is declined, tap Try another card.

Tap Back to the calendar when you are done.

What if something goes wrong?

• The reader is not found: switch it on and bring it close.
• The card was not read: try the card again.
• You are not sure a payment went through: check Sales before you charge again.

Can I take cash or type in a card number?

No. The till takes cards only, through your card reader or Tap to Pay.
