Choosing how an item ships
On this page
You choose shipping one listing at a time, in step 2 of the listing form, called Shipping & handling. There is no shipping setting for your whole shop.
In the appSellShipping & handlingHow do I choose how an item ships?
- Tap Sell and start a listing.
- Fill in step 1, Product details, and tap Next.
- Under Shipping method, choose one:
- XO Bestie handles shipping and delivery (Recommended)
- I will handle shipping myself
- Under Who pays for shipping, choose who pays. The choices depend on the method. See below.
- Tap Next.
You can change these later by editing the listing. See Editing a listing.
What is the difference between the two methods?
- XO Bestie handles shipping and delivery. When the item sells, you print a label from the app. If you offer free shipping, the label cost comes out of your earnings. If the customer pays, it costs you nothing.
- I will handle shipping myself. You ship with your own carrier and add the tracking number to each order.
Who can pay for shipping?
With XO Bestie handles shipping and delivery:
- Offer free shipping (Recommended). It comes out of your earnings, so set your price to cover shipping.
- The customer pays for shipping. It costs you nothing. Shoppers see shipping added at checkout.
With I will handle shipping myself:
- Offer free shipping (Recommended).
- Charge a flat shipping rate. You enter one amount in Flat rate. Shoppers pay it on top of the item price.
What do shoppers see?
On the listing, shoppers see Free, Flat rate with your amount, or Paid at checkout.
What do I enter about the package?
You only do this when XO Bestie handles shipping. Under Package, enter the item itself, not the box you will ship it in:
- Length, Width and Height
- Weight
How big or heavy can a package be?
- The most it can weigh is 70 lb.
- The longest side plus twice the other two sides can be 130 in at most.
What is the HAZMAT question?
When XO Bestie handles shipping, tapping Next opens HAZMAT Information. It asks whether the package contains anything potentially hazardous. The list includes aerosols, batteries, perfume, nail polish, lighters and matches.
- Choose No if nothing on the list is in the package.
- Choose Yes if the package has something on the list.
- Tap Continue.
You must answer before you can continue. If you answer Yes:
- The package must be packed on its own.
- It travels by USPS Ground Advantage only. Faster services are not offered.
- You are responsible for packing to carrier rules.
